Full professor
Department of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology /Head and Neck Surgery
Faculty of Medicine

Prof. Solange Landreville obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Biology (2001) and a Master’s degree in Biophysics and Cellular Biology (2003) from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. She then completed a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology (2007) at Université Laval, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis in the United States.

In July 2011, she was appointed Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine of Université Laval. She joined the university as an Assistant Professor on grant in the same department in June 2012. She was promoted to the rank of Full Professor in June 2023.

In addition to being a regular researcher at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval Research Center in the Regenerative Medicine program, Prof. Landreville is a regular researcher at the Experimental Organogenesis Research Center of Université Laval/LOEX and at the Cancer Research Center of Université Laval. Prof. Landreville was a Junior 1 and 2 Research Fellow of the Quebec Health Research Fund (FRQS) and was the recipient of the Bernard-Belleau Prize from the Francophone Association for Knowledge (ACFAS) in 2005.

Her research programs focus on:

  • Characterization of the tumoral/metastatic microenvironment of ocular melanoma (i.e. stromal cells, extracellular matrix, extracellular vesicles, hypoxia, epigenetics),
  • Physiology and pathologies of the posterior segment of the eye (i.e. choroid, melanocytes, diabetes, macular degeneration),
  • Gene editing for the treatment of ocular diseases, as well as
  • Improving cell culture models and tissue engineering in ophthalmology.
