A word from the Deputy Director of Clinical Research
The CHU de Québec-Université Laval (CHU) is the leading university hospital centre in Quebec and one of the largest in Canada. Because of its size and status, it is imperative to have solid, well-structured, high-performance clinical research.
Over the past decade, the CHU Research Centre, in collaboration with clinical departments, Université Laval and the Fondation du CHU, has put in place a strategic process to structure, support and accompany clinical research. As a result of this initiative, a professional team has been put together, ready to meet the current challenges of clinical research, while developing targeted programmes to provide effective support for research teams.
Today, more than ever, it is essential to pursue and strengthen this effort because clinical research is a key lever for continuous improvement in the quality of care and clinical practices. Clinical research is not just about discovering new treatments or evaluating medical technologies, but also a strategic vector for evaluating, adapting and optimising day-to-day care processes.
It also offers a unique opportunity to enhance the attractiveness of our institution by attracting exceptional talent, supporting the professional development of our teams and establishing strategic partnerships with leading local and international players. A university hospital committed to high-quality clinical research projects becomes a centre of innovation and excellence, stimulating the commitment of researchers, professionals and patients alike.
Our vision is therefore to position clinical research at the heart of our institutional strategy, to ensure a tangible impact on the quality of care while responding to the complex challenges facing the healthcare system. By encouraging interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration, supporting continuing education, promoting discoveries and interventions that improve the patient experience, and making judicious use of health data, we are giving ourselves the tools we need to create an environment conducive to innovation and excellence.
While we are firmly committed to complying with regulatory and legal requirements, we must remain flexible in our processes to adapt and respond proactively to the needs of our scientific community, knowledge users, and internal and external partners.
Together, we can ensure that clinical research becomes an essential lever for optimal patient care, while contributing to the reputation and attractiveness of our CHU and its Research Centre on the national and international stage.
