Disciplinary Approach
The program brings together individuals from a variety of disciplines such as medicine (both primary care and specialized), pharmacy, nursing sciences, epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, rehabilitation, laboratory medicine, public health, management sciences, toxicology, nutrition, psychology, anthropology, and social work. As professors at Université Laval in these diverse fields, we contribute to the training of future scientists through the delivery of numerous courses offered across different faculties and departments, as well as through the supervision of graduate students’ research projects and postdoctoral fellows.
Affiliations and Collaborations
At the regional level, many of us are also members of other health research centers affiliated with Université Laval, such as the Center for Sustainable Health Research (VITAM), the Nutrition, Health, and Society Center (NUTRISS), and the Institute on Aging and Social Participation of Seniors (IVPSA). Others integrate their research programs into the activities of the Quebec Center of Excellence on Aging (CEVQ), the Integrated University Health and Social Services Center of the Capitale-Nationale (CIUSSS CN), or collaborate closely with the Public Health Department of CIUSSS CN.
At the provincial level, several of us work closely or in partnership with the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec (INSPQ), the National Institute of Excellence in Health and Social Services (INESSS), and the Quebec Poison Control Center on health practices and policies related to provincial screening programs, treatments, trauma care, sexually transmitted and bloodborne infections, poisoning, epidemic modeling, environmental health, Indigenous community health, and lifestyle habits. Strong partnerships have also been established with representatives from First Nations and Inuit communities. The program, leveraging the expertise of knowledge synthesis specialists, hosts the Francophone Cochrane Canada Center. Our researchers also hold significant responsibilities in Canadian and international research consortia, particularly in the fields of intensive care and trauma care.
