Maude Laberge, PhD, is interested in the economic analysis and evaluation of health policies and interventions, and particularly in transformations that can improve the quality, efficiency, patient experience, and equity of services. Her research interests include health system performance, resource allocation and distribution, and population health outcomes. She has an expertise in primary care and models of physician payment and organization and health system financing.

Prof. Laberge applies economic theories and econometrics tools to evaluate the impact of health interventions, whether at the level of health policies or at the level of healthcare organizations. Although she is originally trained on secondary data (administrative databases and population surveys), her more recent work also includes primary data (collection from patients, providers, or decision makers).

Furthermore, an aspect of her research is the integration of the patient perspective in order to identify the heterogeneity of needs and preferences and better respond to them. Her projects are oriented around the questions of:

  • Economic evaluation of health policies
  • Efficiency of healthcare providers
  • Equity in health systems
  • Preferences

She holds a PhD in health services research with a specialization in health economics from the University of Toronto (2015).
