Anne-Sophie Morisset is a trained nutritionist and has been a professor at the School of Nutrition at Laval University since 2015. In addition to being a researcher at the CHU de Québec–UL Research Center, she is also a researcher at the Nutrition, Health and Society Center (NUTRISS) and the Observatory on the Quality of Food Supply, both entities of the Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (INAF).

After completing her doctoral studies in maternal health, metabolism, and nutrition under the supervision of Dr. André Tchernof, Prof. Morisset completed a postdoctoral internship in the laboratory of Dr. William D. Fraser, where she worked with very large national and provincial birth cohorts (MIREC study and 3D study). Prof. Morisset also holds a Master’s in Business Administration – Business Management (M.B.A.), which gives her expertise in management.

With diverse interests, Prof. Morisset’s research program focuses on two axes:

Axis 1 – Prof. Morisset has expertise in perinatal nutrition and conducts observational studies and randomized clinical trials to promote healthy eating before and during pregnancy. The aim of her work is to promote appropriate nutrient intake and healthy dietary habits among this population. Additionally, her work aims to reduce pregnancy complications, such as glucose intolerance and gestational diabetes, and strengthen current nutritional recommendations, both for normal pregnancies and those at risk.

Axis 2 – Prof. Morisset also has expertise in food service management. She is interested in the quality of food offerings in healthcare facilities. Specifically, her work aims to develop a tool to measure and track the quality of food offerings for residents/patients attending healthcare facilities in the province of Quebec.

Prof. Morisset values effective teamwork and a positive work culture. She relies on the strengths of each member of her research team to advance the research projects that are close to her heart.

In the long term, Prof. Morisset aims to improve multidisciplinary clinical care during pregnancy and facilitate its accessibility, so that the health of future generations can be enhanced. She also wishes for users of healthcare facilities to have access to quality food offerings and be satisfied with them, thereby promoting overall better health.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
