Dr. De Serres received his MD from University of Montreal and FRCPC in Internal Medicine and Nephrology following residency at Laval University in Canada. He then completed a 3-year Research Fellowship in transplant immunology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and received a Master of Epidemiology from Harvard School of Public Health. He is currently Associate Professor of Medicine at Laval University and Clinician-Scientist Junior II FRQS scholar.

At the national level, he has served as Chair of the 2018 Canadian Society of Transplantation Scientific Committee, in charge of organizing the Canadian Transplant Summit. He is currently member of the Board of Directors of this society. He is a regular reviewer and scientific officer for CIHR.

His research program focuses on cell-based assays to identify over-immunosuppression and on the mechanisms of antibody-mediated rejection. Since 2011, he has received continuous funding from different agencies including Kidney Foundation of Canada, CIHR, CFI and FRQS. His lab is currently funded by a CIHR Project Scheme grant and he is co-investigator and collaborator on several multicenter projects, including the CIHR-funded TMCT-04 trial and the Genome Canada-funded Can PREVENT AMR study.
