Full professor
Department of Molecular Biology, Medical Biochemistry, and Pathology
Faculty of Medicine

Professor Josée Lavoie holds a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Université Laval and completed postdoctoral fellowships in Molecular Biology from the University of Nice (France) and in Biochemistry from McGill University.

Researcher at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval Research Center since 1998, Prof. Lavoie is a full professor in the department of molecular biology, medical biochemistry, and pathology at the Faculty of Medicine of Université Laval since 2008. Her research focuses on the fundamental aspects of tumor cell biology, particularly on the molecular mechanisms controlling cell division and metastatic migration. She has a specific interest in cellular signaling that regulates nuclear mechanical properties.

Prof. Lavoie is a member of the master’s and doctoral program in cellular and molecular biology, of which she has been the director, and a professor in the biomedical sciences bachelor’s program. In 2016, she received the Excellence Award from the department of molecular biology, medical biochemistry, and pathology for her contributions to research, teaching, and academic management. She is regularly solicited as an expert to serve on peer review committees for the Fonds de recherche en santé du Québec-Santé (FRQS), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Cancer Research Society (CRS).
