Isabelle Germain

Dr. Isabelle Germain has been a radiation oncologist at the Radio-Oncology Department of the CHU de Québec-Université Laval since 1996. She completed a one-year fellowship in breast and gynecological oncology in Paris. She is an associated researcher at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval Research Center and an associate clinical professor in the Department of Medicine at the University.

With a Master’s degree in Experimental Medicine (MSc), she has always been actively involved in clinical research in the field of breast cancer, mainly in the area of partial breast irradiation. She also participates as a local investigator in several clinical research protocols with the CCTG and the NRG.

Highly involved in teaching, Dr. Germain was a member of the Specialty Committee of the Royal College in Radiation Oncology and then Vice-President of the Royal College Examination Committee. She was the director of the palliative medicine program at Laval University from 2003 to 2007. From 2007 to 2016, she was the head of the Radiation Oncology Department at the CHU de Québec. Additionally, she chaired the national radiation oncology committee at the MSSS from 2009 to 2014.

Since 2018, she has served as the medical co-manager of the Oncology Program at the CHU de Québec. Her various administrative activities have allowed her to develop expertise in work organization. For several years, she was responsible for the quality improvement committee in oncology at the CHU de Québec, developing a special interest in the development of quality indicators in radiation oncology. Her provincial and national involvement demonstrates her constant concern for the overall improvement of the quality of cancer care.

Through all these involvements, Dr. Germain has demonstrated her active commitment and leadership in the overall improvement of the quality of care and the promotion of clinical research in oncology in Quebec.
