Holder of a PhD in anthropology (Laval University) and an expert in the field of information and communication technology use, Assistant Professor under Grant at the Faculty of Medicine of Laval University, Maryline Vivion joined the Population health and optimal health practices axis in 2022.

Since the advent of the Internet and social media, information overload and misinformation have become major public health issues as they play a significant role in shaping health behaviors. Therefore, the main objective of her research program is to strengthen the resilience and adaptation of individuals and communities to changing informational ecosystems. She has particularly explored the informational practices of urban indigenous communities, cultural communities, and older adults.

She has a solid experience in qualitative research methods and has developed expertise in analyzing online content (social media, digital press, etc.) through various approaches such as online ethnography. She also promotes participatory and co-construction approaches.

Ms. Vivion hopes that her research will advance knowledge in the field of informational practices in health and will contribute to the co-construction of communication strategies for public health messages.
