Dr. Stéphane Bolduc is a renowned clinician-scientist and full professor in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine of Université Laval. Graduating from his residency in urology at Université Laval in 2000, he continued his training with a specialization in pediatric urology and regenerative medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto (2002).

As the head of pediatric urology at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval, Dr. Bolduc is recognized for his clinical leadership and research contributions. He is an active member of the Regenerative Medicine division at the CHU de Québec-Université Laval Research Center, where he also served as director of this division from 2014 to 2017. Since 2017, he has held the position of deputy director of clinical research at the CHU de Québec-UL.

Dr. Bolduc’s research focuses on genitourinary tissue engineering at the Laboratory of Experimental Organogenesis (LOEX). With his team, he is dedicated to developing tissues composed of human cells to correct congenital or acquired abnormalities of the male and female genital organs. Among his flagship projects are the reconstruction of the urethra and vaginal wall, significant advancements in the field of regenerative medicine.

Simultaneously, thanks to his innovative 3D models, Dr. Bolduc collaborates with other researchers to develop 3D models of urological cancers, including bladder and prostate cancer. These biomimetic models, built from human cells, provide a unique platform for studying tumor invasion and treatment response. Their refinement promises the development of predictive tools for precision medicine, thereby opening new perspectives in the fight against urological cancer.
