Marie-Claude Tremblay is an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine at Laval University, and a regular researcher at VITAM, a center for sustainable health research. Along with Alex McComber, she currently co-directs the expertise in Indigenous health of the SSA Québec Support Unit. Since 2013, Prof. Tremblay has been promoting respectful and equitable partnerships in various initiatives and research projects in Indigenous health. In partnership with various groups of stakeholders, Prof. Tremblay’s research aims primarily to improve the cultural safety of care for Indigenous populations and to combat the racism and stigma they experience in the healthcare system. Her research program includes various projects that give central importance to decolonizing, participatory, and community-based research approaches, as well as patient engagement in healthcare, research, and education.

Her research interests include:

Indigenous health and cultural safety;
Issues of racism in the healthcare system;
Transformation of healthcare training programs;
Reflexivity and critical pedagogy.
