The sequencing platform is now equipped with the NovaSeq X, the latest generation of sequencing systems developed by Illumina. This new series of sequencers features a significantly enhanced version of sequencing-by-synthesis technology, known as XLEAP-SBS. A redesigned polymerase enables nucleotide incorporation at twice the speed, thereby increasing sequencing throughput and reducing run times. In addition, thanks to the development of a new fluorescence detection scheme, this innovative chemistry delivers superior data quality and accuracy, achieving Q30+ and even Q40 qualité scores, compared with the standard SBS chemistry used on the NovaSeq 6000.
Furthermore, the introduction of room temperature-stable lyophilized reagents significantly reduces plastic waste and packaging requirements while eliminating the need for dry ice during transportation. These advancements contribute to a lower environmental footprint and support more sustainable sequencing operations.
