IR&T’s LabPET II small animal positron emission tomography (PET) system enables metabolic and radiotracer imaging in small animals at sub-millimeter resolution, one of the highest in the field of devices of PET. The device is designed to facilitate studies of the metabolism of radiotracers in dynamic mode (pharmacokinetics and biodistributions). The platform has strong expertise in the field of biodistribution of nanomedicine products (organic and inorganic nanoparticles for diagnostic and therapeutic use). A laboratory is adjacent to the platform, for handling and producing radiotracers (with radiation measurement and counting equipment).

The Lab PET II system offers one of the best resolution performance for a PET system in the mouse model. With our X-ray computed tomography (microCT) system, the platform offers a complete imaging solution combining anatomical and metabolic information. The radiolabeling and radioactive injection preparation laboratory allows the reception of radiotracers from various cyclotron infrastructures, as well as the development of tracers mainly for biodistribution studies (molecules, antibodies, nanoparticles). The BIM laboratory team can train researchers and their teams in the handling and administration of radioactive products for PET imaging. The platform offers several methods and support services to assist research teams in the analysis and optimization of PET and PET/CT imaging results.

- Spatial resolution: 0.8 – 1.3 mm (depending on radioisotope)
- Most frequently used radioisotopes: 89Zr, 64Cu, 18F, 124I.
