Professor François Bergeron completed his doctoral studies in biomedical sciences at the University of Montreal. He then undertook a postdoctoral internship in health technology assessment at the Health Technology Assessment and Modes of Intervention Agency in Health (Montreal) and at the National Agency for Accreditation and Health Evaluation (Paris). His research activities focus mainly on assistive technologies for deafness, particularly cochlear implants, and tools for assessing auditory perception.

In 2001, he participated in the creation of the master’s program in speech-language pathology at Laval University. In 2014, he chaired the creation of the master’s program in audiology at Laval University, of which he is currently the director. He is also the scientific director of the Quebec Center of Expertise in Cochlear Implants, with which he has collaborated for over 40 years.
