Quebec City, Canada \u2013 January 8th, 2023<\/strong> – The Research Center of the CHU de Qu\u00e9bec – Universit\u00e9 Laval is pleased to announce a collaborative project with Verily, an Alphabet precision health technology company, aimed at applying cutting-edge precision analysis technologies to enhance skin health.<\/p>\n

This strategic research collaboration will support the My Skin & Hair Journey study, which Verily launched with L\u2019Oreal earlier this year, which involves the long-term assessment of thousands of participants to better understand the mechanisms associated with skin health and the aging process. The Research Center of the CHU de Qu\u00e9bec – Universit\u00e9 Laval is responsible for biological sample processing and analysis in accordance with the scientific objectives of the program.<\/p>\n

The Research Center of the CHU de Qu\u00e9bec – Universit\u00e9 Laval is nationally and internationally recognized for its expertise in developing and implementing \u201comics\u201d analysis technologies, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, as well as their processing through bioinformatics and artificial intelligence. This expertise, combined with Verily and L\u2019Or\u00e9al\u2019s scientific knowledge, will be a significant asset in decoding the deep biology of the skin.<\/p>\n

Professor Arnaud Droit from the Faculty of Medicine at Universit\u00e9 Laval will lead this new collaboration. He will mobilize four state-of-the-art technology platforms within our research center: gene expression, next-generation sequencing, proteomics, and bioinformatics, all equipped with the latest instruments and highly qualified personnel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis new collaboration will position the Research Center of the CHU de Qu\u00e9bec – Universit\u00e9 Laval as a key collaborator of Verily in the development of research for dermatology and skin care. It will establish us as a global leader in the use of \u2018omics\u2019 technologies and AI for human health,\u201d states Professor Arnaud Droit.<\/p>\n
