Welcome to the DNA synthesis service information site (CHU de Qu\u00e9bec\u2013Universit\u00e9 Laval\/IDT Portal)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u201cCHU de Qu\u00e9bec\u2013Universit\u00e9 Laval\/IDT Portal\u201d is a website customized by the company IDT (Integrated DNA Technologies) for CHU de Qu\u00e9bec-Universit\u00e9 Laval Research Center and other institutions in Qu\u00e9bec. It is a personalized gateway designed to meet DNA synthesis needs of all kinds for scientific research purposes in the field of genomics.<\/p>\n

The portal offers several advantages, such as facilitating orders, centralizing deliveries at the CHUL pavilion, and having no delivery charges. Orders for other sites are redistributed daily.<\/p>\n

History<\/h3>\n

The CHUL DNA synthesis service has existed since March 9, 1987. In its early days, sequences were synthesized using a 4\u2011column synthesizer with a capacity of 8 sequences per day, which allowed for the synthesis of only 212 sequences during the first year.<\/p>\n

In 2003, thanks to the G\u00e9nome Qu\u00e9bec project, the research center acquired the ABI\u20113900 synthesizer. Equipped with a capacity of 48 columns allowing the synthesis of 144 sequences per day, this instrument made it possible to produce 15,194 sequences that year\u2014a record that remains to this day the highest number of sequences synthesized in a single year. Since the collaboration with the company IDT and the implementation of the IDT portal in 2009, approximately 10,000 sequences have been delivered annually.<\/p>\n

Overall, over the past 30 years, more than 171,000 sequences\u2014representing 4,900,000 bases\u2014have been synthesized, with an average length of 28 bases per sequence.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n

To access the portal and place orders, you must:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Be a member of the CHU de Qu\u00e9bec staff (CHUL, HDQ, HSFA, HEJ and HSS) and have a CRCHU de Qu\u00e9bec research budget (e.g., 81999-CG123456). Other institutions that do not have this type of budget must provide a specific purchase order (PO \u2013 Purchase Order) for each order.

  2. Have a PC or Mac computer with a web browser to access the Web.<\/li>\n
  3. At first use: Go to the \u201chttps:\/\/www.idtdna.com\/CRCHUQ<\/a>\u201d website and NOT to the IDT company website.

    \nOpen an account and define a username and password.Place your first order immediately or later, then log out.

    \nWe will send you an email to obtain additional information.<\/li>\n
  4. Subsequently, and for all other orders: Access the \u201chttps:\/\/www.idtdna.com\/CRCHUQ<\/a>\u201d website and NOT the IDT company website.

    \nLog in using your username and password.

    \nPlace your order, then log out.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    After your registration, we will receive a notice of account opening approval and will contact you to obtain additional information. Thereafter, orders will be automatically accepted.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n \n\n

    \n 2. Explanation of the total amount of an order with the adjusted tax for the CHU de Qu\u00e9bec or Universit\u00e9 Laval\n <\/h3>\n <\/div>\n \n

    When you place an order through the portal, the total amount shown at the end of the process does not display provincial or federal taxes (Tax\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0$0.00 CAD). However, during periodic billing to researchers, a tax of 5.688% must be added for the CHU de Qu\u00e9bec and 6.934% for Universit\u00e9 Laval.<\/p>\n

    Taxes are added only during the periodic processing of orders. Note that there will be no invoicing as such; rather, funds will be transferred from the researcher\u2019s budget to the DNA synthesis service budget.<\/p>\n

    Based on the example shown on the right, for a CHU de Qu\u00e9bec order of $290.18, a 5.688% tax must be added, i.e. $16.51, for a total amount of $306.69. If the order comes from Universit\u00e9 Laval, a 6.934% tax must be added, i.e. $20.12, for a total amount of $310.30.<\/p>\n

    All shipping costs are covered by the service, so you have no fees to pay, except for deliveries on dry ice or special handling charges. Please note that these fees will not appear when placing the order through the portal.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n \n\n

    \n 3. Cancel an order\n <\/h3>\n <\/div>\n \n

    Option 1:\u00a0The best method to cancel an order is to \u201cChat\u201d. To do so, click on \u201cGet Help \u2013 Chat Now\u201d at the top right of the IDT portal homepage. Enter the relevant information and the order number (IDT Sales Order number or SO#) that you received by email shortly after placing your order. Select the help type \u201cI want information about my order, account, or pricing.\u201d After the greeting message from the IDT representative, simply state that you wish to cancel order SO#nnnnnnn.<\/p>\n

    Option 2:\u00a0You may also contact IDT by phone at 1\u2011800\u2011328\u20112661 (English only).<\/p>\n

    Option 3:\u00a0You may always send an email, but there is a risk that it will not be read in time to allow cancellation of your order.<\/p>\n

    In all cases, you must provide the order number (IDT Sales Order # or SO#) that you received by email from IDT after submitting your order.<\/p>\n

    It is essential to cancel your order before 4:00 p.m. on the same day, as the oligos are synthesized during the following night and cancellation becomes difficult to obtain.<\/p>\n
