Vincent Couture, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at Université Laval. He teaches ethics applied to nursing and health. He is a regular researcher at the Centre de recherche du CHU de Québec—Université Laval, with a dual affiliation to the axis Population Health and Best Health Practises and the axis Reproductive Health of Mother and Child. His research program revolves around the ethics of care applied to the beginnings of life.

Mapping Ethical Issues Related to Advance Paternal Age

In most societies parental age at birth is increasing. This phenomenon has been well studied in women, but what about men? An increasing number of studies tend to show an association between the father’s advanced age and negative health outcomes for the child. In this context, this research project aims to shed light on the nature of the responsibility of future fathers of advanced age in relation to their reproductive decisions.

Study the Use of Palliative Care During the Perinatal Period

The disclosing of a prenatal genetic diagnosis with a poor prognosis is a particularly demanding situation for future parents. This project seeks to explore the possibility of providing palliative care at the birth of the child. We are more specifically interested in the social, psychological and ethical dimensions associated with this difficult decision-making for future parents.

Explore the Contribution of Arts to Bioethics

How to share the results of bioethics research to the general public? One of the avenues that we are exploring consists in creating hybrid events that mobilize knowledge transfer in bioethics and aesthetic experimentation.
