Dr. Jason Robert Guertin is a researcher at the Centre de recherche du CHU de Québec – Laval University and an assistant professor in the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine of Université Laval’s Faculty of Medicine.
Financial evaluation is a pivotal component of health technology assessment. It aims to support decision-makers to establish if adopting a novel health technology represents the most efficient use of available resources. Considering that healthcare demands are continuously on the rise, and budgets are overstretched, many health technology assessment units in Canada and abroad are examining the option of reassessing the value of previously adopted technologies using observational economic revaluations. Dr. Guertin’s research program focuses on the various components of economic evaluations and revaluations conducted within an observational setting. More recently, his work has focused on: 1) the development of novel methods aimed at addressing limits associated with observational economic evaluations; 2) evaluating the impact of chronic diseases on patients’ health-related quality of life in Quebec and Canada; and 3) the economic evaluation of health technologies in the field of personalized medicine.
