Dr. Rachid Mazroui, a Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Molecular Biology, Medical Biochemistry and Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine at Laval University. The researcher is studying the translational mechanisms involved in the resistance of cancer cells to therapeutic drugs. Specifically, his group aims to understand the role of RNA stress granules in the translational regulation giving rise to chemoresistance. The ultimate goal is to identify factors that can be targeted to specifically prevent the formation of stress granules in therapeutic conditions, thus sensitizing cancer cells to treatment.
