Mrs. Lise Fillion is a nurse and psychologist. She obtained her PhD in Psychology from Laval University. She completed her postdoctoral training in Health Psychology at the Behavioral Medicine Research Center at the University of Miami, and held a position as Assistant Professor in Health Psychology at York University in Toronto. Since December 31, 1998, she has been a professor-researcher at the Faculty of Nursing Sciences (FSI) at Laval University. She is a regular researcher at Laval University’s Cancer Research Centre, a regular member of the CHU Research Centre of Quebec – Laval University (oncology axis), and a member of the Michel-Sarrazin Research Team in Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care (ERMOS).

Her area of expertise is adaptation to cancer. She studies the process of adaptation to cancer throughout the trajectory of the disease, including end-of-life care. Her research projects stand out for their innovative, societal nature, and fall under clinical and evaluative research.

Some of her projects have a significant impact in the community, such as defining the role and fostering the implementation of oncology pivot nurses in Quebec, Canada, and elsewhere in the world. She has been instrumental in implementing an oncology distress screening program, which has been recognized by Accreditation Canada as a best practice. Being a visionary woman, she helped Quebec City and the FSI of Laval University shine by brilliantly getting the XII International Congress of Psychosocial Oncology to take place in Quebec City in May 2010. In addition to her work in oncology, she contributes to social innovation by implementing workplace emotional safety and well-being programs for palliative care workers.
